Body Ready Birth® Workshop | In Person in Hopkins, MN
In-Person Birth Prep Workshop for Couples in the Twin Cities
Four Hours · Only Four Couples · Entirely Hands-On
You can read about labor positions. You can watch every video. But the first time your body tries a deep supported squat should not be at 6 centimeters, and the first time your partner attempts counter-pressure should not be while you are crying.
The Body Ready Birth® Workshop is the afternoon where you practice all of it, in your actual body, before it counts.
Dates for the next workshop are being finalized. Waitlist members hear first, and with only four couples per session, seats go to that list before anywhere else.
Knowing About Birth and Being Ready for It Are Different Things
Most birth education happens from the neck up. You learn the stages of labor, you learn what an epidural does, you learn the words for the interventions you might be offered. That knowledge matters enormously, and you should have it.
But labor is a physical event. When you are deep in it, your thinking brain steps back and your body takes over. And your body can only take over with what it already knows.
A position you have read about is not a position your body can find at 3 a.m. A technique your partner watched in a video is not a technique their hands remember when you are gripping the side of a hospital bed. The gap between understanding something and being able to do it is exactly where most birth preparation stops.
This workshop closes that gap. You spend four hours on the floor, in the positions, with hands on, until the movements are yours.
How This Is Different from a Childbirth Class
This is a common question, and the honest answer is that they do different jobs and you benefit from both.
| A childbirth education class | This workshop | |
|---|---|---|
| Teaches | What happens and what your options are | What your body physically does about it |
| Format | Instruction, discussion, slides, often online | In person, on the floor, in the positions, hands on |
| Covers | Pregnancy, labor stages, interventions, postpartum, newborn care | Positioning, pelvic mobility, comfort techniques, what to do when labor stalls |
| You leave with | Understanding and confident decision-making | Muscle memory and a partner who knows what to do with their hands |
| Best paired with | This workshop | A childbirth education class |
Want the education side too? Dr. Chrisi teaches The Complete Birth + Baby Course, a self-paced online program covering pregnancy, labor, interventions, postpartum, and newborn care. Together with this workshop, that is the full picture.
What You Will Practice
Every hour is hands-on. Nothing here is a lecture you sit through.
Your Four Hours Together
- Every major labor and pushing position, in your bodyNot described, not demonstrated on someone else. You get into each one, and Dr. Chrisi corrects your form so it actually does what it is meant to do.
- Which positions open which level of your pelvisYour pelvis has three levels and they do not open at the same time or with the same movements. You learn which is which, and when in labor to reach for each one.
- Hands-on comfort and counter-pressureYour partner practices on your body, with feedback, until they can find the right spot and the right pressure without being told.
- What to do when labor stallsA clear sequence to work through rather than panic, based on where your baby is and what is likely holding things up.
- Moving well with an epidural, monitors, or an IVLimited mobility is not no mobility. You learn the positions that still work when you cannot get out of bed.
- The common physical issues that slow labor downPelvic asymmetry, a locked ribcage, a pelvic floor that will not release, and what to do about each.
- Building the pathways so it comes back automaticallyRepetition is the point. You practice enough that the movements return when your thinking brain has checked out.
You will leave with printable handouts for your birth bag, so the sequence is in the room with you on the day.
What Your Partner Walks Away With
This is the part people tell Dr. Chrisi about afterward, more than anything else.
Most birth partners arrive at labor wanting desperately to help and having no idea how. They have been told to be supportive, which is not an instruction. So they hold your hand, they say encouraging things, and they feel useless.
Your partner leaves this workshop knowing exactly what to do. Where to put their hands. How much pressure. Which position to suggest when things slow down, and why. How to help you into it. What to say to a nurse when you cannot advocate for yourself.
They will have practiced all of it on you, so it is not theoretical. When they reach for a technique in labor, their hands will already know it.
Is This Workshop Right for You?
This is for you if
- You are between roughly 28 and 38 weeks, though earlier or later is welcome
- You are planning any kind of birth. Hospital, birth center, home, VBAC, epidural, unmedicated. The physical prep applies to all of it.
- You want your partner meaningfully involved rather than standing by
- You learn by doing rather than by reading
- You had a long or difficult labor last time and want a different physical strategy
- You have taken a childbirth class and still feel unprepared for the physical reality
This might not be the right fit if
- You want comprehensive childbirth education. This workshop is physical practice. For the full curriculum, take The Complete Birth + Baby Course alongside it.
- You want work specific to your body. This is a small group and Dr. Chrisi corrects everyone individually, but a 1:1 Body Ready Method® assessment is where restrictions specific to you get found and treated.
- You are coming alone. The hands-on techniques need two people. If your support person cannot attend, a 1:1 session is the better use of your time.

How the Three Pieces Fit Together
Dr. Chrisi offers three distinct things, and mamas often ask which they need. Here is the honest breakdown.
| What it does | Format | Investment | |
|---|---|---|---|
| Body Ready Method® 1:1 | Finds and treats what is restricted in your body, then builds a movement plan specific to you | In person, one on one | From $225 |
| This Workshop | Builds the physical muscle memory for labor, with your partner practicing alongside you | In person, small group | $350 per couple |
| The Complete Birth + Baby Course | Teaches the full picture of pregnancy, labor, interventions, postpartum, and newborn care | Online, self-paced, from anywhere | $129 |
Most prepared mamas do at least two. The workshop and the course together cover education and birth prep with your partner. Adding 1:1 work is what you do when you want to support your body throughout pregnancy and receive an individualized movement & exercise plan for pregnancy and birth preparation.
What Couples Say
My husband went in skeptical and came out the most useful person in the delivery room. He knew where to put his hands, he knew which position to move me into when things stalled, and he did it without me having to ask. That alone was worth the whole afternoon.
Ashley S., Woodbury, MN
I had taken a hospital birth class and still felt totally unprepared for the physical part. Four hours of actually getting into the positions changed that completely. When labor started my body just knew what to do.
Sarah M., St. Louis Park, MN
Four couples meant Dr. Chrisi corrected my form personally, over and over, until it was right. You do not get that in a big class. Best birth prep decision we made in the Twin Cities.
Cassie J., Eden Prairie, MN
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the Body Ready Birth® Workshop?
It is a four-hour, hands-on birth preparation workshop for couples in the Twin Cities. Rather than teaching you about labor, it has you physically practice every major labor and pushing position, learn which positions open each level of your pelvis, and give your partner hands-on comfort techniques they practice on you.
How is this different from a childbirth class?
A childbirth class teaches you what happens and what your options are. This workshop teaches your body what to physically do about it. One is knowledge, the other is muscle memory. They work best together, and Dr. Chrisi recommends taking both.
When should we take the workshop?
Between 28 and 38 weeks is ideal. Late enough that birth feels real and the practice stays fresh, early enough that you are comfortable moving and have time to keep practicing at home before labor.
Do I need to bring a partner?
Yes. The hands-on comfort and counter-pressure techniques require two people, and much of the value is your support person learning them on your body. It does not have to be a spouse. Bring whoever will be with you in labor.
Do I need to be fit or flexible?
Not at all. Every position is scaled to what your body can do that day, and Dr. Chrisi adjusts for pelvic pain, limited range, and late pregnancy discomfort. Many people arrive not having exercised in months.
What if I am planning an epidural or a cesarean?
The workshop still applies. A significant portion covers moving well with an epidural, continuous monitoring, or an IV, since limited mobility is not the same as no mobility. For a planned cesarean, the positioning and comfort work supports both labor before a scheduled surgery and your recovery after.
How many couples attend?
Four, deliberately. A cap that small means Dr. Chrisi can correct each person's form individually, which is the entire point of practicing rather than watching. It also means seats are limited and the waitlist matters.
When are the next dates?
Dates for the next workshop are being finalized. Joining the waitlist is free, requires no payment, and means you are notified before dates are announced publicly. With four couples per session, workshops frequently fill from the waitlist alone.
Do we still need a doula?
A doula is a wonderful addition and this does not replace one. What the workshop does is make your partner genuinely capable rather than dependent on the doula for everything, which means better support whether or not a doula is in the room.
Where is the workshop held?
At MotherBaby Wellness Co., 1719 Mainstreet, Hopkins, MN 55343, with free on-site parking. Couples travel from Minnetonka, St. Louis Park, Edina, Eden Prairie, Golden Valley, Wayzata, Plymouth, Excelsior, Chanhassen, Minneapolis, and across the west metro.
We would love to prepare with you both.
Your afternoon here blends comfort with expert, professional care. We start slowly, with time to settle in and meet the other couples, before moving onto the floor together.
From there, we work through every position with hands on and gentle correction, so you both leave with movements your bodies genuinely remember. Many couples are surprised by how much steadier they feel walking out, and by how much your partner now knows what to do.
However far along you are, this is a space to slow down, feel cared for, and prepare together for the day you meet your baby.
